The idea for this website started during a Cedar Rapids MOMs Club discussion of Barbara Kingsolver's book, Animal, Vegetable Miracle. We found that one of the barriers to eating locally produced food was that we didn't know where to get it. Some links were passed around and I decided to set up a webpage that would list all of our "finds". Although there are some great websites such as Local Harvest and Eat Wild serve this purpose somewhat, I wanted to create a site that was exclusive to the Eastern Iowa area so that we could include individuals, hobby farmers, craftspeople as well as resources for green living in Iowa. This page was originally set up in Jan 2008.
